The Truth Behind Your Back Pain

9/28/2026

Throughout our lives, it’s basically impossible to make it through without some sort of discomfort in your body. Here at Corey’s Bootery, we’re familiar with all kinds of body aches and pains, however they might not come from what you expect: your feet.

In this month’s blog, we’re going to cover how your feet can actually be the cause of back pain you may be experiencing, and how the right fitted shoes are a solution that many clients have found with us before.

Feet Shape Matters

If you’re having back pain, one cause may be the way your feet are naturally shaped. Flat feet and high arched feet are common reasons for lower back pain because of the way these structural issues don’t allow for people to step normally, and with feet being the structure of your body, the compensation creates stress that leads all the way up through your legs and lower back.

For instance, flat feet make your feet roll inward, meaning your legs and thighs will also roll inward, adding stress to your lower back. High arched feet are poor shock absorbers because naturally there’s less of a base at the bottom of a high arched foot, so that shock is spread upward through the legs and lower back.

Other Conditional Issues

Of course, when talking about back pain we can’t put all the blame on just our feet, as some of the added pain for our backs may be caused by us from a forced limp while walking or misaligned movement. These sort of tendencies are a result from foot conditions like plantar fasciitis or arthritis.

One thing to also keep in mind for when you’re feeling back pain is what shoes you’re wearing. If the shoes are old, worn-out, or are the cause for you to feel off-balance, then it means that it’s probably time to look for a new everyday pair that’s fitted for your feet.
